I recently spoke with our fabulous Field Development Coach Kristyn DeRaffele and she shared some great tips on how to grow a particular region for Stella & Dot. Everywhere is prime for growth right now – So it’s our time to shine! All you have to do is ACT and DO IT NOW!

Top 5 Tips to Grow Stella & Dot in a Specific Region:

1.) Commit to the growth & share responsibilities among leaders. First and foremost, you want to work with your local leaders – whether they are on your immediate team or not – to grow your region. Set up a conference call or meeting to discuss this openly. Choose 3 areas that you all think should be targeted for growth. For instance, in Southern California, this could include the San Fernando Valley, the Inland Empire and Palm Springs. Whatever cities/areas you choose to target, make sure everyone is on the same page and is focused on working together toward the same goal.

2.) Commit to more trunk shows. Each leader and stylist should try to commit to doing as many trunk shows as she can in the targeted regions. One stylist may be well connected in that particular area and does 3 trunk shows. And another stylist may do only 1 trunk show. This is OK – Don’t compare yourself another Stylist’s success. Just commit to doing what you can. But holding trunk shows in your target market will create loyal customers and hostesses, and it will generate real excitement and buzz. The whole idea is to expand marketing efforts so that word-of-mouth business and brand recognition is elevated.

3.) Schedule at least two Opportunity Events each month. With increased trunk shows comes increased interest in the opportunity in a particular area – Exactly what you want! So be prepared to address this with consistent Opportunity Events scheduled for your target region. It would be wise for the leaders to share this responsibility. One or two leaders can be in charge of the event each month, and another one or two will oversee the event the following month. This will help each stylist share the responsibilities, so one person doesn’t get overwhelmed or burned out. Be sure to post these events on Stylewatch, Stylist Space, Eventbrite and on Craigslist.

4.) Practice your sponsoring conversation to increase attendance to the opportunity events. The goal is to sponsor stylists in your target area, and that comes after you hold a trunk show, meet new people and then invite those people to attend the opportunity event. Be sure to print out opportunity invitations and pass them out at each trunk show. Ask everyone you know who they know in that area. Pass out look books and invitation flyers to salons, offices, clinics and local restaurants in the area. There are countless ways to market an event – just brainstorm and put them into action.

5.) Implement a Local Area Meeting when needed. At the beginning, you probably won’t need to schedule a monthly area meeting, as those stylists can attend the existing meeting. But as that particular region grows, communicate and brainstorm with the local leaders as to when it would feel right to implement a meeting. Usually if you can get about 15 people to a meeting in a particular region, you should do it. Again, discuss this with the local leaders and share the responsibilities. Take turns overseeing the meetings, just as you do with the opportunity events, so no one stylist is bearing the brunt of the work.

More tips:

* Consider doing a Facebook ad targeted to your chosen region – Facebook is a great way to increase brand recognition and increase attendance to an opportunity event.

* Do you live in an area where there aren’t any Leaders? No problem! Follow the 5 steps above and continue to focus on selling and booking trunk shows. Instead of doing 2 opportunity meetings per month, you can do one, and then increase your efforts as you increase your team size.
